Sooo busy weekend and a definitely fun weekend. Neptune festival was SWEET and I had such a fun time with Dana. Sunday was pretty awesome. I taught and Amber helped me out, which was fun fun fun. I really enjoyed it. After church I didn't do much, but I made my first chicken casserole! And it turned out okay, something to eat for the rest of the week. yeah...now I need to go and put away some laundry and get ready for The Amazing Race. Which I already decided that during I'm going to try to put together my crafting desk, which I am super excited for woot woot! :) Maybe it will motivate me to get started on all the Christmas gifts I need to make....yeah. go Elise go! Yeah. Wish I had more to write, but I'm sleepy and typing makes me even more sleepy...

sickness...oh my

Have you ever been so sick tired that you drive to Uno's instead of AppleBee's even though your friend is driving right in front of you? that you drank expired milk, even though it must have came out chunky? You thought one of your students were missing when they walked right in front of you? It took 10 minutes to find exodus (the 2nd book of the bible!)? You forgot to fork your peanut butter cookies? You got out cream cheese to put on your waffle? Yes this has been my past few days. Being sick makes me a little crazy...I must admit. I feel really horrible, really really. But thankful I know it will pass. Hopefully sooner, so I stop making a fool of myself :/ But humble pie never hurt anyone.

When I grow up....

So, yesterday I marked a moment of growth in my life. You know a time in your life you're like wow I've really grown up. Well in a small way I noticed yesterday that I grow up a little. I guess there was two ways. I had to make a really crappy decision that I didn't want to, but knew i had to be responsible and do even if it would disappoint a lot of people, including myself. But the real kicker, yesterday someone (names not important, drama=death,ha) sent me a pretty nasty message on facebook, that was just really uncalled for. And all I could do was laugh! A year ago I would have sent a meaner message back, and told all my friends to do the same to this girl and never speak to her again. But all I could do was laugh. It was just so ridiculous to me that someone would do it and try to stir up trouble, just funny. So yes, I guess I've grown up and have just seen more of God's grace in the past year, so some has rubbed off. So that was been my Monday. It seemed like such a long day, but a lot was accomplished.

I've been thinking a lot about drama and major issues that people face in life. I've always been a person who looks at other's lives and try to learn from them so I don't repeat the same problems in life. I've come to a somewhat conclusion, that God never asks us to be perfect. All God asks us to do is to keep our hearts in check so that we will love the things that he loves and hates the things that he hates. Yes, this is wicked hard and some days I have to check my heart four five times a day and I often fail. I really think that if people keep their hearts in check, they won't have perfect lives but they'll have lives full of joy because they are honoring God. This was my conclusion for the messes I've seen around me... Just something I've learned form them and is going to take with me.


In other news, I think one day I'd like to live in a yellow house with a red roof. Just a silly dream I thought I'd share :)

Let's just move to "socialist" Canada

So I try not to be political when it's a non elections year, ha. But seriously 18-29 year olds are the most uninsured age group! So my young friends, why are you not supporting health insurance for your friends? It makes me so confused on that fact alone. I mean friends we really have the most to gain if the current system is fixed and the most to LOSE if it's not fixed. Know who else I don't understand? Fellow Christians who don't think every person doesn't deserves health care. I think you'd change your mind if the shoe was on the other foot. Jesus made time to help all the sick people, even the man lowered down from the roof...and we can't support every person being able to see doctors and get the medicine they need? Health care is a need not a want...should we deny water to every person who's work doesn't give them water? Sounds like a good idea! If you come to my house and don't have a job or one that is supplying you with water, you can have none of my water fool!

people are dying in America from the common cold because they can't go to the doctors. seriously? I mean here in the US we are the richest nation BUT our health care system is ranked 37th! yes 37th, the country with amazingly trained doctors and technology. yes. Ok, I should quite ranting... I just get angry, but that's what I get for watching Fox news and other shows, ha. There's a reason Hannity rhymes with insanity....
yes. I am just as much guilty of taking my own health insurance for granted I know and it is selfish of me. But change takes time even for me. No health care system is or will be perfect, but any improvement will help just a little.

All I can think of lately is when I was student teaching during the block and the teacher was doing a unit on Canada (and talking about their universal health care). A sixth grader asked the teacher why one of her mom's friend died because she couldn't afford the operation. Even a sixth grader sensed the injustice in the world relating to the health care divide. That's sad...from the mouth of babes...aye?

Rocket Ships and School Books

When you think about it, NASA is kinda a big waste of money....I mean how does NASA really help people? I mean it's super cool and everything BUT what good is it truly doing me and my homies, besides giving children whimsical dreams of outer space? Yes, I spent today reflecting on NASA...ha. I also spent a lot of today thinking about how I really feel like I connect with David because we were both our father's least favorite and completely underestimated, I mean Jesse practically laughed at the idea of David becoming King and my dad told me many times I would amount to nothing. BUT David rose above and amounted to something amazing, a man after God's own heart even! And Elise in Virginia Beach you say? Well she's doing ok for herself getting by day by day and always striving to be her best in God's eye.Yes, many thoughts today.

On a random note, some girl from high school, who I haven't who I haven't talked to in 5 years just Imed me and is acting like we've been dear friends forever weird... Especially since I saw her in a mall like 3 years ago said hi and she looked at me and turned her back on me! Maybe she wants to borrow money :/ Ha, she has to go bed now...said she'll talk to me tomorrow...ha. :D I guess we'll see.

So school has been going pretty well. Our classroom looks a lot sweeter this year with one less desk. And doing paperwork seems so much easier with one less kid, even though it breaks my heart he's gone... So nothing new, just doing school work and enjoying being back. I really missed school and Ms. Dawn, I forgot how well we flow together. Ok, time for bed, well the hour time to prepare for bed....

New Sheets Makes Everything Better!!

I bought new sheets yesterday and put them on. It made my life twenty times better, ha! So school is back on track, I'm excited even though I still have a lot of paperwork and such to do! I feel like it's going to be an amazing school year and I can't wait to see what it holds.
